Family and friends recall Jimmy as a true gentleman who brought light and warmth to their lives. He was a devoted husband to Mary and a loving father to Martina, Antoinette, and Jimmy. His grandchildren, who adored him, will miss his presence and the joy he brought into their lives. Throughout his life, Jimmy was an enthusiastic participant in the Lourdes pilgrimages, a testament to his faith and commitment to helping others. His community spirit and readiness to lend a hand or share a moment of laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jimmy is also lovingly remembered for his kindness and vibrant spirit. He served his community with dedication as a postman, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met with his kind words and cheerful demeanour. His passion for life was evident in everything he did, from his work to his enjoyment of social gatherings at Connolly’s Bar, where he was known for his good humour and the craic.
Late of Kennedy Park, Tramore, Co. Waterford, and formerly of Davidstown, Co. Wexford, James (Jimmy) Denton passed peacefully at University Hospital Waterford, surrounded by his loving family on Friday the 6th of September 2024. He is predeceased by his beloved parents and his siblings Paddy, Betty, John, and Richard.
Jimmy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken wife Mary, children, Martina, Antoinette and Jimmy, adoring grandchildren Adam, Cian, Luke, Sophie, Ben, Sarah, Tadhg Roisin and Daniel; his daughter-in-law Aoife and son-in-law Robert; his siblings Peggy, Edward, Michael, Maisie and Ann and the Landers family from Ballinroad. He will be forever missed by all his nieces and nephews, relatives, extended family, wonderful neighbours and his many friends.
Funeral Arrangements
Jimmy will be reposing at Falconer’s Funeral Home, Riverstown, Tramore, Co. Waterford on Monday, the 9th of September, from 6 pm to 8 pm.
All are welcome.
Jimmy’s Requiem Mass will take place on Tuesday, the 10th of September, at 10 am at The Church of the Holy Cross, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Immediately after, Jimmy will be laid to rest in St. Declan’s Cemetery. For those who wish to take part in Jimmy’s Requiem Mass remotely, please follow the link provided here.
Jimmy’s Funeral cortege will pass his residence in Kennedy Park at approximately 9:30 am and will walk from Tramore Credit Union/Lodges Corner at approximately 9:40 am to arrive for his Requiem Mass at 10 am.
